new circuits for kitchenette
Replaced everything, even re-building the ceiling and repairing holes in the ceiling, getting in a plasterer
Stripped out existing floor, replaced wall surfaces, tiled wall & floor, fixed skirting, installed new roll top shower bath.
Heat mat in the floor, floor tiled, led's in recessed alcoves (1 awaiting delivery)
The customer wanted a roll-top bath with a separate shower area, the floor is tiled with a heat mat under the tiles.
wall mounted basin & vanity, heated mirror with back lit LED's around the circumference.
The customer wanted a recessed alcove in the shower area, the tiles bottom of the alcove is tilted to allow for splash / spray to drain out.
Electrical supply to heated mirror, c/w shaver outlet & led lights
To save space in a small room a cloakroom size basin top and vanity & concealed cistern unit was chosen.
The customer wanted a larger walk in shower than originally planned which meant the towel rail would be over the end of the tray.
Floor & walls tiled. New shower tray & shower, vanity units, basin in worktop, w.c. etc
The customer did not want their water tank & cylinder back in the airing cupboard, so the only option left was an instantaneous water heater. I also moved and installed a new Consumer unit (customer to carry out decoration)
The shower tray had to be raised due to the waste pipe needing to "fall" to drain correctly, the flat below prevents it goung into/through the concrete floor.
My customer asked me to make up a wall "cabinet" from different components - four individual cabinets, mirror, shelf, pelmet(from shelf sections) light fitting.
This "walk-in" shower area is tiled in different tiles
Preview of Made up wall cabinet in total.
Be aware that wall hung wall basin units still need the waste pipes to run to the soil stack - thankfully I can hide them in a very small box out.
This wall "cabinet" was made up from two small cabinets, a shelf, end panel (from shelf) pelmet (from shelf parts) and a light fitting. Also a shaver socket outlet mounted to achieve the correct electrical IP requirements.
We planned the waste pipe out through the floor to get the tray on top of the floor. Once the floor was tiled (with under tile sheeting) the tray surface was nearly level with the top of the tray.
"looks like floor board" tiles cut on a purfect curve to follow the edge of the tray.
floor laid with "looks loke floor board" tiles, alter all plumbing under the floor, tiling, concealed basin waste for wall hung basin
Remove box out for soil stack & replace with an AAV - conceal with ventilated miniture box out
everything was new except the taps, all new items had to "match the taps" and be "traditional"
replace plumbing, run new circuits for digital / pumped mixer shower, tilling, vinyl flooring
With the addition of an Aqualisa digital mixer shower area in the corner
You are much better off with a walk in shower and shower seat than any kind of "open door" or "lower down inside" bath system.
It took 3 weeks with an industrial dehumidifyer to dry out the floor before works could continue. The bedroom wardrobes had to also be replaced as they were mouldy.
The leak was so bad it soaked the floor and walls and the other rooms
Here I installed new plumbing for the shower and towel rail, installed the tray, tiled floor & walls, installed shower screen & mixer & towel rail etc.
The floor was raised in this bathroom to then allow it to look like a sunken bath
Most of what you see here is "off the shelf" but I did the electrical circuit supplying the wall light / mirro, tilling, installation.
Although tis bathroom looks like its floorboarded its actually tiled - with "looks like floorboards" tiles
With this bathroom the customer wanted real floorboards overlayed the original boards, I have secret nailed them, stained and varnished according to her colour requirements.
With this bathroom the customer had worked out a drawing of where he wanted each colour of tile for each wall - which I had to follow rigorously
Alter electrical circuits, plumbing & waste pipes, re-build wall, tile & install shower items etc
photo 2, this area was carpeted & had a bidet - now gone.
shower area ripped out & replaced - from 760 x 760 up to 1700 x 800, digital mixer/pump unit, plumbing, concelaed type control unit & large rain shower head.
Completed bathroom, new wall surfaces due to stripping 2 layers of tiles, then re-tiled
Re-build service box outs, build box out to conceal cistern and wall mounting frame for wall hung w.c. pan, with removable panel for future service access
Tile floor & walls, walls with porcelain hexagonal mosaic tiles, fir wall hung basin & unit & wall unit
Tile even the concealed inaccessible space behind the false wall, install shower and tray and door.
Rip out, insulate external walls, see next photo
Build false wall as side of walk in shower area, see next photo
Alter waste pipe work from above floor to below floor with new connection, see next photo
Yet more big chunks taken out the top of floor joists by previous installer, it was strengthened up by bolting steel plates across the openings. It's so important to get someone that understands Part A (structure) of the Building Regulations with respect to passage of pipes and cables.
This existing shower tray had not been bedded down or sealed to the wall when installed, hence it moved a bit when my customer used it and the seal was constantly breaking and leaking.
The shower tray bedded onto a concrete floor (covered with foam backed vinyl sheet) could have the waste pipe chased into the floor and out through the wall because my survey indicated the waste gully was lower than the floor. A good survey is SO important. Electrical Certificate issued for electric towel rail element & circuit alterations
Here there was a problem with 5 damaged shower trays which meant I had to work out of sequence to make progress for the customer. The shower tray normally goes in before tiling.
Again, the previous installer had cut a chunk through the top half of the floor joist, weakening it. I have bolted in a structural graded piece of timber over the hole.
Then I diverted the new waste pipe around the houses through the "safe zone" through the joist & reconnected it.
Electric under tile heat mat laid and infilled ready for tiling. Alteration to power circuit and Electrical Certificate issued.
Re-cast stone top & basin in one, walk in shower area - The customer here wanted a "bespoke" wall tile layout, i worked with them to find a solution that didn't involve unsightly cut tiles
Real marble wall tiles, heat mat under tiled floor, power circuit altered, Electrical Certificate issued. All items installed
I found this chase along a wall, it went right through in places. After making good with expanding cement the wall is now safe. Again its important to understand where you can chase walls & how deep to keep withing Part A (structure) of the Building Regulations)
This partition wall formed the "tap end" of the bath, once removes a large walk in shower space was created
The shower area after the wall was removed. There were serious electrical faults discovered with the shower room next door, (8.5Kw shower supplied by the ring main??) this was re-wired, with an extra consumer unit and new meter connections , Electrical Certificate issued.
Top quality required by this customer, Villeroy & Boch basin, vanity, heated mirror with remote switch for pelmet light. Also Kudos shower area in corner. Alter power circuit for electric element in towel rail, issue Electrical Certificate
New floor & wall tilling, heat mat under the floor tiles, vanity units & mirrored wall cabinet.
customer designed their own tile layout.
wall tilling and "designer" towel rail
Electric heat mat under tiled floor, bath, towel rail, wall tiles.
Electric heat mat under tiled floor, bath, concealed cistern & basin vanity, wall tiles
new bath, wall hung basin, w.c., alter waste pipes internal & external. Ran new circuits for sockets down stairs, airing cupboard and shower mixer/pump.
Alter waste pipe in floor & external for floor mounted shower tray, etc etc
Alter shower waste in floor for floor mounted shower tray, basin vanity, floor vinyl etc. Alter circuit for electric element in towel rail with programmable timer. Electrical Certificate issued.
stripping out the tiles - the wall surface did not even meet the tray??
Removal of shower tray showing water damage to wall surface
