    Fitting of fire door and frame

    Niall's communication was excellent from the outset. He came out to measure up the job and gave me a very competitive quote. He turned up when he said he would, removed my old door and frame and fitted the new one in accordance with current building regulations. I would have no hesitation in using him for any future jobs I have.

    Nine doors fitted and balustrade problems

    The nine doors were all the wrong size for the frames, the planing was half done with splits & gouges in the wood. Half of the doors wouldn’t close properly, and they had been planed down so much in places that the inner wood underneath had been exposed, leading to problems with warping, and gaps at the bottom & hinge side. Doorknobs were fitted too close to the frame, needing to be moved inward and more damage. The locks and keeps had been fitted badly, often without carving out the keep or even sanding the catch to make it fit. The balustrade was uneven and hadn’t been laser levelled.

Cox joinery is a York based company, we strive to complete our jobs to an excellent standard whilst being efficient and stress free for the customer. We carry out all aspects of joinery and also work alongside other trades to offer a full project management package for the customer to make the process as easy and as smooth as possible.


Here is a list of works we carry out:

  • Kitchen replacements: full project management including organisation of other trades.
  • Garden stuctures: this could be a garden room, pergola, gazebo etc.
  • Internal door/frame replacement: this includes single, double, and bi-folding doors.
  • flooring: this includes LVT and laminate click flooring.
  • External door/window fitting: wether it's timber, composite or PVC.
  • Skirting/architrave replacement.
  • Fitted wardrobes/cupboards: this includes bookcases, TV stands, dressers.
  • Decorative wall panelling.
  • External joinery works: such as fencing, gates, bin stores, soffit/facia repair or replacement.
  • Internal joinery works: this includes all 1st and second fix joinery such as stud walls, flooring and joist repair/replacements, window boards etc.
  • Door easing: this could be due to the doors swelling in winter or after new carpets fitted.
