How do solar feed in tariffs work?

If you use solar panels to power your home, the chances are you’ve heard about solar feed in tariffs. Many homeowners don't realise that their solar panels are generating more power than they can use. This means energy is often needlessly wasted. In order to qualify for a feed in tariff, you needed to apply for the scheme by March 2019. Feed in tariff rates are decided by power companies. But you can still receive regular payments based on how much excess electricity you produce.
