What's included in a professional shower installation

Your installer will handle everything from plumbing and electrical connections to tiling, sealing and testing the system.

They'll ensure correct drainage and waterproofing to prevent future leaks, and can also advise on the best shower type, whether that's a thermostatic mixer, digital shower or eco-efficient electric unit.

How much does shower installation cost?

The cost of installing a shower in the UK typically ranges from £300-£800, depending on the model, location of pipework and electrical requirements.

Electric shower installations average around £375, while walk-in shower installations start from around £2,100-£2,500 for a full fit-out. Our shower installation cost guide covers the full breakdown, including walk-in shower costs.

Who should install your shower?

Electric showers must always be installed by a qualified electrician, it's a legal safety requirement, not just good practice. For standard or mixer showers, a checked plumber can handle the plumbing and connections safely.

Before you book, it's worth checking:

• Public liability insurance, so you're covered if anything goes wrong
• Reviews from previous customers in London
• Whether they can advise on layout and fixtures, not just fit the unit

Shower installation in London: Homeowners vs renters

Homeowners

You're free to upgrade or replace your shower whenever you like, just make sure any electrical work is signed off by a qualified electrician for building regulations.

Renters

Check your tenancy agreement and get written permission from your landlord before installing or replacing a shower. Most landlords will arrange this themselves, but some allow tenants to organise it if agreed in advance.
