What's the quality of paint like from Asda?
If you’ve recently been shopping at Asda and you’ve noticed some household paints being sold, you might be asking yourself… what’s the quality of paint from Asda?
Asda sells one specific brand of paint called Johnstone’s – a brand owned by PPG, one of the biggest coatings manufacturers in the world.
Johnstone’s is known for producing good quality paint. Depending on the type of paint you go for, the quality is generally comparable to Dulux – another household favourite. So, it can be a good way to get decent paint for a low price.
That said, the paint that Asda sells isn’t trade paint.
Painters and decorators will always advise that you get hold of trade paint as opposed to retail paint, as it’s much better quality (albeit usually more expensive).
While retail paint has a manmade pigment in it, trade paint contains a titanium pigment. This makes it much easier to get good coverage with fewer coats of paint – especially if you’re using a light paint colour on a dark surface.
A professional painter and decorator will be able to advise you on the best paint for your project. Better still, they’ll be able to use their skills and experience to make sure your paint job is finished to a high standard that you can be proud of – without you having to lift a finger!
