What is Bloomcore?

Bloomcore is an interior design trend that blossomed from Cottagecore, a visual representation of a slower way of life, bringing the outdoors in and celebrating all things nature. As the name suggests, Bloomcore focuses on floral motifs in particular and creating a sense of calm and freshness in the home through flowers.

Cottagecore is known to have more of a darker aesthetic. Bloomcore feels fresher, brighter and provokes images of idyllic country gardens and English wild meadows.

What is the difference between Bloomcore and Flowercore?

Bloomcore and Flowercore are used interchangeably. Arguably, Flowercore has more of a specific focus on flowers whereas Bloomcore incorporates more of the botanical trend as a whole. Think lots of wildflowers, greenery and foliage.

It’s sometimes difficult to differentiate these ‘core’ trends but there are often key differences that separate them. It’s important that you take inspiration from the trends and adapt them to fit into your own home and style.

Go bold with a floral feature wall

If Bloomcore coincides perfectly with your own interior style then you may want to make a statement with a floral mural or wallpaper. Choose a design that you love and hang it behind your sofa to frame the room perfectly.

Alternatively, bathrooms are the ideal place to go bold with your interior design choices. Wallpaper your entire downstairs loo with a loud and proud floral patterned wallpaper to amp up the wow-factor!

Display real flowers

An easy but effective idea is to fill your home with real blooms. This doesn’t have to cost a fortune, use cuttings from your own garden and forage for foliage and greenery to bulk out your bouquets.

Use different sized vases for variation. Decorate a dining table with a jug full of flowers or you could always make your own floral wreath using an oasis wreath template.

Incorporate Bloomcore-inspired accessories

Rather than investing in expensive furniture or wall coverings, opt for floral print soft furnishings and accessories. There are so many to choose from in different styles and colour palettes that you’ll be able to find bits and bobs to suit your home.

A floral velvet cushion is bang on trend and would liven up any piece of furniture. Same goes for a throw covered in flowers, perfect for layering on top of a neutral sofa or bed.

Press your own flowers

Pressing flowers is a mindful activity that’ll no doubt bring the Bloomcore aesthetic to your home.

Prepare your flowers for pressing by placing them in-between two sheets of parchment paper. Place a heavy book on top to fully press them. Then iron your flowers gently on a low heat with the parchment paper still protecting them.

Mix and match floral patterns

If you’re a fan of pattern, mixing and matching different florals is a stylish way of injecting your home with lots of colour.

A great example of this would be choosing a duvet cover adorned with a large floral print and contrasting this with ditsy floral print cushions. A match made in heaven!

Pay homage to the Bloomcore trend in your living room with a handful of fun and inspiring ideas.

If you’re willing to be daring, a floral patterned piece of furniture such as an armchair or a footstool is a great way of incorporating Bloomcore into your living room. Or, cover unsightly floors with a colourful floral print rug to make a statement.

If subtle is more your style, a selection of botanical prints in frames is an effective interior design technique that’ll add immediate interest to your walls. Or, it can be as simple as adding a floral cushion to a sofa if you’d like to try out the trend before fully investing in it.

Kitchens can be a little trickier when trying to incorporate a particular trend, however it is definitely possible with Bloomcore.

An easy way is dotting bud vases filled with a few stems of fresh flowers around your worktops for a modern feel. This is more cost-effective than displaying a selection of full bouquets and also looks more contemporary.

Don’t forget about dried flowers! Whether you’ve dried them yourself or bought them already dried, they can be a lovely addition to your kitchen.

If your worktop space is limited, hanging flowers and plants are a great alternative that won’t clutter your preparation station.

Finally, how about investing in a new floral dinnerware set? Using and display flower print ceramics will freshen up any kitchen.

By incorporating the Bloomcore trend into your home, you’ll be sure to fill your space with freshness and floral fun.
