Kitchen cupboards can easily become cluttered so we’ve put together some of the best storage ideas for kitchen cabinets.
Small kitchen organisation ideas
Open shelving

Small kitchens can look quite dark and oppressive. Keep the space open by opting for open shelving instead of traditional wall cabinets.
Keep open shelving tidy by displaying your favourite items and keeping things stored in pretty jars and containers. Add a plant or two for an injection of colour.
Keep counters clear

With small spaces it’s all about tricking the eye and using nifty hacks to make a space feel bigger than it really is. Be sure to keep your kitchen counters clear of any chunky appliances or crockery that will make them feel cluttered.
If you have no choice other than to use your counters to display kitchen goods, try and group items together and use stylish baskets to organize things.
Add shelves in cupboards

To avoid cupboards becoming piled up with stuff, add your own shelves to cabinets to make things easier to organise. This way you can separate your crockery from your dried goods.
If you’re feeling brave, take the doors off your kitchen cabinets to display what's in them, this may encourage you to keep them tidy.
Organise your fridge

Don’t neglect your fridge. Consider it as another kitchen cabinet that needs to be organised. Use perspex containers to store different types of food. Glass or perspex is a great storage material as you can still see through it, making it easier to quickly grab the food you’re after.
Decant fruit and veg into the drawers in your fridge to get rid of any messy plastic packaging.
Glassware on display

If you have one or two kitchen cabinets that have a glass door, use this as an opportunity to display your glassware.
Rather than letting unsightly tins and food packaging be on show, present your favourite glassware in height order. Choose your prettier designs to be placed at the front of your cabinets.
Use height to your advantage

If you’ve got minimal square footage, make the most out of the height of your kitchen. Vertical cupboards that go right to the ceiling are a huge bonus but if you can’t change your kitchen design, use the top of your cabinets to either store or display things neatly.

How to organise your kitchen cabinets
Storage baskets & shelves

Kitchen cupboards are a vast empty space, which makes them easy to pile things up and for items to become cluttered.
Use a separate basket for each type of item. For example, a basket for tins and a basket for tupperware lids. This way you will know where everything belongs and it’s a lot easier to keep on top of your kitchen cabinets.
Jars and containers

To avoid stacking up lots of different types of packaging. Invest in an array of different storage jars and containers so all of your dried food items are uniformed.
These are great for storing pasta, rice, oats and cereals. Choose specific jars and containers that will make the most out of the space in your cupboards that you have available.
Use a label maker

A fantastic organisation tip that is super simple and affordable is to invest in a label maker. Label up your storage jars and containers so you know what goes where.
This also creates a uniformed look that makes your kitchen look clean and tidy. If you don’t have a label maker, a sharpie pen will do the job.
Stack crockery neatly

Kitchen cupboards need to be used to store crockery but you should make sure this is done in an organised way.
A good tip to make things look a little tidier is to group crockery in colour blocks. Stack plates first, then side plates and then bowls to make sure things sit straight.
Cutlery organisation

Tidy up your cutlery drawer and avoid it becoming cluttered by investing in a cutlery organiser. It is simply a tray made out of wood or plastic that has different sections in it, designed to house all of the different types of cutlery.
If you’re feeling crafty, try making your own. You simply need offcuts of wood, make sure you get your measurements right and go from there.
