We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new Green Hub – a user-friendly green space on our platform built for consumers like you. It is the latest innovation from Checkatrade Zero, our drive to cut home emissions across the nation.

Why we created the Green Hub

Let’s face it: navigating the world of home improvement can feel overwhelming. Whether you're looking to upgrade the insulation, install solar panels, or simply make your home more energy-efficient, finding the right guidance, financial support and quality tradespeople can be a challenge.

That’s where the Green Hub comes in. It’s designed to simplify that journey – giving you all you need to make informed decisions about improving your home in a way that’s good for the planet and your wallet.

The Hub goes hand-in-hand with the wider work we’re doing to help both trades and consumers go green. In case you missed what we’ve been up to, here's some highlights:

  • Unveiled the Home Health Report - which uses AI to help you understand how to improve your EPC rating.

  • Secured partnerships with Heatable, Make My House Green and Green Central to make solar panels, boilers and heat pumps more accessible and efficient.

  • Launched the Checkatrade Skills Accelerator – a programme offering apprenticeship-matching as well as upskilling and retraining opportunities for new and existing tradespeople to help plug the skills gap and support the Government’s housing and net zero targets.

  • Opened Burton and South Derbyshire College's new Green Skills Centre alongside Samantha Niblett MP and East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward. We will now promote courses to thousands of trades in the Midlands.

  • Hosted a Parliamentary Roundtable bringing together Government, MPs, industry, charities and expert bodies to explore the barriers to making home decarbonisation a reality.

What you’ll find inside the Hub

The Green Hub brings together the tips, tools and tradespeople to support every step of your green home improvement journey. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Energy-saving tips: Clear, jargon-free information on how to reduce your energy use, cut your bills, and futureproof your home.

  • Access to grants & finance: Learn how to access funding, subsidies and government-backed initiatives that can make green upgrades more affordable.

  • Tools & trades you can rely on: Discover skilled tradespeople, rated and reviewed by other homeowners, ready to get the job done right.

  • Project planning help: From idea to installation, get the expert view on how to approach your home improvement projects with confidence.

Don’t just take our word for it - innovation charity Nesta, who are playing a key role alongside Government in the drive to cut home emissions – are backing the Hub. Katy King, deputy director in Nesta's sustainable future mission, said:

"Finding reliable and practical advice around creating a greener home can be a challenge for homeowners as everyone's circumstances, home and where they are in that journey differs. We welcome the new addition of Checkatrade's Green Hub as a useful tool to help consumers take the next step that's right for them."

Making green choices easier

We believe that making environmentally-responsible choices when it comes to home repairs and improvement shouldn't be difficult – and with our Green Hub it won’t be.

Whether you're just starting to explore your options or are ready to take the plunge, the Hub is here to support you with reliable guidance and connections to trusted professionals.

So, if you’re hoping for a heat pump, planning to upgrade your boiler, or simply want to make your home cosier and more energy-efficient, our Green Hub is your go-to destination.

Your smarter, greener home starts here on Checkatrade – with the Green Hub.
