The reality is that Indian sandstone contains iron, which reacts when moisture is absorbed. This then causes the discolouration.
This yellow 'staining' is unfortunately unavoidable with Indian sandstone, it's part of its charm.
How to remove Indian sandstone stains
Given that the yellow colouring is part of the Indian sandstone itself, it's not an easy fix.
We wouldn't recommend using a high-pressure washer. Jet washing can damage the soft sandstone and leave you with cracked or broken slabs. This will reduce the lifespan of your patio or driveway.

Leave the stone to weather in – Over time, the yellow stains will often disappear without needing any special attention. Although this could take a few years.
Use an Indian sandstone rust remover – This option often gives inconsistent results. On some driveways and patios, it works really well, but on others, it doesn't.
Replace your driveway or patio – If you really don't like the look of your yellow-ish Indian sandstone, you can replace it. This is obviously a bigger and more expensive job, but it will solve the problem.
