Why has my New Team shower stopped working?

There are lots of different reasons why your New Team shower may have stopped working. The things to look out for will vary depending on what kind of shower you have.

That said, here are some of the most common reasons to bear in mind.

Low water pressure

If your shower has suddenly experienced a drop in water pressure, this may be due to a buildup of limescale on the showerhead. In this case, you should be able to restore your water pressure by simply descaling your showerhead.

However, if there’s a longer-term problem, you might benefit from investing in a more permanent solution. For instance, you could get a home booster pump installed to ensure your water pressure is hitting the spot even when water is being used elsewhere in the home.

Noise

Is your shower emitting strange noises? Whether it’s a loud whirring, a low humming, or an annoying rattling sound, a new noise could be a sign that there’s a problem that needs fixing.

It may be that the noises are being caused by loose fittings and pipes. In this case, tightening everything up and properly securing each unit against the wall should do the trick.

Alternatively, the problem could be to do with your mixing valve. A plumber should be able to check and adjust it for you.

Bursts of scalding water

Do you get scalded with hot water each time someone flushes a toilet while you’re showering? This is likely because the cold water that’s balancing out the hot water in your shower gets diverted away to the toilet to flush it effectively.

To solve the issue, you could look at installing high-efficiency toilets in your home. Not only do they reduce your water usage and cut your bills, but they’ll also leave more cold water for you to enjoy in the shower each time they’re flushed!

Shower shuts down

If your shower won’t work at all, this could be because your pressure relief device has blown. It’s designed to do this when the internal pressure becomes too much, to prevent the tank from exploding.

If this is the case, you’ll need to replace your pressure relief device – but not before working out what caused it to blow. A blockage in the shower head or shower hose is a common culprit.

Alternatively, if you have an electric shower that won’t turn on, this could be to do with the solenoid valve coil. An electrician should be able to replace it for you, as should a plumber who’s confident fixing electric showers.

What should I do if my New Team shower stops working?

If your shower stops working, the best course of action is to call in a professional.

They’ll be able to accurately diagnose the problem and fix it for you as soon as possible. That way, you can get back to enjoying those long, hot showers!
