But, can anyone get on Checkatrade? It is a common myth that needs addressing. We want to make sure that we only work with the best. So we do our homework.

Our vetting process
We pride ourselves on the standard of our members’ work and their conduct. That’s why we have a thorough vetting process.
We vet all members and check them regularly during their membership. And, if necessary, we remove anyone not meeting the Checkatrade Standard.
That way homeowners can be confident when hiring any Checkatrade member to work for them.
What are the checks we carry out?
As part of our onboarding process, we vet all our new members with the following checks to make sure they meet the Checkatrade Standard:
Photo identification to verify who you are
Proof of your trading address
Evidence of your qualifications and any regulated accreditations
Open-source check to search for any adverse media on you or your business
Personal CCJ check to make sure you don’t have any personal county court judgments owed to previous customers
Business CCJ check to ensure you don’t have any business county court judgments owed to previous customers either
Proof of your company history to check that you have a good trading record
Financial checks to check for any records of bankruptcy and insolvency
Duplicate member check to make sure you don’t match any previously declined, suspended or expelled trades
Proof of 6 months Trading history - applies to certain categories only.
Director search of your company for previous directorships or disqualifications
Customer experience check using reviews of your company on third-party websites
During onboarding, we’ll ask you to provide proof of Public Liability Insurance. If you’re unable to provide this, a note will be added to your Trade profile to ensure homeowners are informed.
Only once you’ve passed our checks will we proceed with onboarding you as a member.
