What kind of roof patch do you recommend?

What is the best roof patch?

The best roof patch will depend on the type of roof you have. For flat roofs that are the most prone to leaking, a felt roof patch is a good option.

A felt roof patch can be applied to any size of roof leak and can be sealed with waterproof acrylic paint.

For leaking conservatory roofs, you may need to use a specialist waterproof sealant. Rubber-based products are the best option and can be applied to small leaks in uPVC roof systems.

If your pitched tiled roof is leaking, it’s usually because of a loose or damaged tile, or missing or damaged mortar. In this case, the tile will need replacing and fixing with new mortar.

Is a roof patch permanent?

No. It’s important to remember that felt roof patches and rubber-based waterproof sealants are only temporary fixes for a leaking roof.

If your flat roof or conservatory roof is leaking, we recommend contacting a professional roofer to assess the extent of the damage. Tiled roof repairs, in particular, are longer lasting when done properly.

A Checkatrade approved roofing specialist will advise you on the best roof patches for a temporary fix and the best options to safeguard your home in the long-run.
