Which trade do I need to locate a foul smell underneath the house?

We have a foul smell on our ground floor that seems to be coming from under the house. It started quite strong and is just a lingering eggy, sour milk kind of smell. Sometimes stronger than others. It is mainly in the lounge/dining area and also the attached garage. It seems to be coming from the crawl space through gaps and out an air brick into the garage. My husband went into the crawl space and located some water/puddles that are in line with the air brick (in the garage) and underneath the lounge dining room. The water is a funny blue colour with a similar coloured scum on top and it would appear this is the cause of the smell. Almost looks like washing machine water. He wasn’t able to identify where the water was coming from. No obvious leaks or pipes etc…Which trade do I need? Drainage, builder, plumber. We moved in at the end of November 2020 and it started about a month ago. I don’t know where to start and the smell is really quite distressing. Can you advise me please.

From previous experience, I’d say plumber first. Rule out leaks, or issues with washing machine, sinks or other internal plumbing. If nothing is found look at drainage seeping up from underground etc- plumber can either deal with it or refer you to drainage guys and so on. However if it is not related to the water found it could also be a dead rodent/ animal, in that case you call us guys at Pest Control. Good luck.

I’m a pest controller, could be a rodent or a damaged pipeline with stagnant water.
