Why is my Worcester boiler's blue light flashing?

Why is Worcester boiler blue light flashing?

A flashing blue light on your Worcester boiler means that there is a fault with the system.

The first thing to do is try to identify the fault to see how it can be fixed.

How can I check for problems with a Worcester boiler?

When you switch on your boiler, if a flashing blue light appears after around 30 seconds, this means that a fault has been identified.

Some things you can try to fix the problem include:

  • Reset your boiler

  • Check the pressure gauge (ideal pressure is between 1 and 1.3)

  • Check to see if the fan is spinning

If none of these suggestions help, it’s time to contact a qualified Gas Safe boiler engineer.

What causes a Worcester boiler blue light to flash?

A Worcester boiler’s blue light will usually flash for one of three reasons.

1. Problems with gas supply

This is the most likely cause for a blue flashing light. It could indicate a faulty gas valve, or any problem associated with the gas supply.

For any gas supply problems, you will need to contact a Gas Safe engineer.

2. Flue blockages

If your boiler’s flue is blocked or damaged it can cause the blue light to flash.

A qualified boiler engineer will be able to replace your flue and get your system working again.

3. Blocked condensate pipe

Condensate pipes can sometimes become blocked by a build up of debris on the system. A boiler engineer will be able to flush out the system to fix the problem.

In colder months when the temperature drops below zero, the condensate pipe may become frozen. Again, a boiler engineer will easily be able to fix the problem.
