4 January 2021

Whether you need a quick fix or support with a bigger project, our expert tradespeople are still here to help this Winter.

As we all get used to the new regulations in place across the UK, we’ve worked with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy to produce top tips for staying safe while carrying out home improvements.

Keep in touch. Regular contact with your tradesperson in advance of any home visit is important – talk through details of the work being carried out and agree how risks can be reduced.

Go digital. We’re encouraging our trade members to use video calls in order to carry out quotes.

Keep it clean! Clean the working area and ‘high traffic’ areas such as door handles with disinfectant before, during and after work is carried out. Make sure any shared facilities, like toilets, are cleaned after each shift and keep workspaces well ventilated.

Try to avoid too much face-to-face contact with those working in your home – ideally less than 15 minutes – and keep children or pets in other rooms whenever possible. If work is taking place in an area you use frequently, such as the stairs or kitchen, consider ways to avoid using that space while work takes place.

Tradespeople may opt to wear face coverings

Tradespeople may opt to wear face coverings, in line with government advice.

We recommend that you keep in contact with suppliers for assurances that your deliveries will arrive as planned. As always, it’s sensible to wait for materials to arrive before commencing a project.

So, whether you’re planning a total makeover for your home, or just need help with that leaky tap, our trades are here to help.

Please note: The restrictions across the UK vary and for the very latest guidance you should check your local government website. For more information, please see the government guidance on Covid-19.
