Just Carpentry: Garden room
The projects
Patrick shared with us two recent garden rooms that they built.
The first project was a project they took on after a bricklayer started and discovered there was too much timber to deal with. The project involved removing the old conservatory because it was too small and hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The team then built a new hardwood frame and the bricklayer did the base work. One of the biggest cost savings for the customer was the roof – Patrick and the team cut a softwood roof onto it and fitted matching hardwood rafters to the inside of the room as a statement feature.
The cost for the whole project was £32,000.
In the second garden room project, the customer needed a carpenter to build the complex clean roofline inside. The ceiling is flat with no interruption of valley timbers or purlin, giving the room beautiful clear views through the glass gable windows.

What a view!
The old conservatory was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The team built a new hardwood frame.
Beautiful uninterrupted views
The roof is complicated by the clean roofline inside. The ceiling is flat with no interruption of valley timbers or purlin. This gives the room clear views through the glass gable windows.

The customer was very satisfied with the results – and we’re not surprised, it’s complete bliss!
