What colour goes with beige?
Beige is a versatile colour but what are its winning colour combinations?

In this article you'll find:
Neutral interiors will always be a big trend and will never go out of fashion but what colours go with beige?
There are definitely some pairings that are more suitable than others and we’ve put together a list below of the best colours that we think complement a neutral beige home.
1. Black

One of the most striking colour combinations is beige and black. The warm undertones of beige balances perfectly with the harshness of black and works wonders in every room in the home.
Paint the walls a shade of beige that suits the amount of natural light that is available in that room. For south facing rooms you can afford to go a bit cooler in tone, but for north facing spaces make sure you opt for a warm tone of beige.
Use black furniture, lighting and accessories to introduce pops of black for a modern and contemporary feel.
2. White

Brighten up a beige room scheme with elements of white. An all beige space can feel quite flat and uninspiring but bringing in touches of white will immediately make it feel lighter and brighter.
Contrast beige walls with a pair of white voiles, white scatter cushions and white-framed artwork.
3. Warm orange

The warm undertones of beige naturally pair well with other shades in the warmer side of the colour wheel, orange being one of them. Amplify the cosiness of a beige space with orange cushions, vases and throws.
If bright orange feels a bit too stark, choose a more muted tone of orange that has a rusty undertone instead.
4. Soft green

Green is one of those colours that works well with most other tones. Pairing it with a beige scheme immediately makes it feel more vibrant and alive without the need to use a harsh bright colour.
Choose a soft shade of green such as olive or sage. Bring in other pops of green to the space to make it feel cohesive by adding plants and soft furnishings.
5. Grey

If cooler spaces are more your thing then you may want to balance out a beige space with grey. To avoid this combination looking too jarring, we suggest bringing in elements of wood through your choice of furniture and flooring.
6. Light blue

Opt for a really cool toned blue to contrast with a beige living room. This is going one step further than grey and also adds a hint of colour that will brighten up the space.
Avoid going for bright blues and instead, opt for a light shade of blue to keep the space feeling neutral and sophisticated.
7. Dusky pink

Perfect for a bedroom, create a soft and feminine scheme by pairing beige with dusky pink. Add a touch of glamour with gold or brass touches, this won’t just elevate the space, it will make it feel more cosy and luxurious.
You don’t have to overwhelm the space with pink, subtle additions will do the trick.

What colour goes with taupe?
Taupe sometimes gets confused as being the same colour as beige. However, it’s a much darker shade of brown mixed with a splash of grey. Because of its warmer and darker undertones, the colours you can pair with it slightly differ from the colours you can pair with beige.
Read on to find out what taupe colour combinations we would recommend.
1. Cream

Pairing taupe with cream creates a rich in tone and sumptuous interior look. Be inspired by the room pictured above and bring in luxurious elements such as wall panelling, structured furniture, metallic lighting and velvet cushions.
Before committing to a taupe scheme, make sure there is lots of natural light available so it doesn’t look too dreary or dark.
2. Terracotta

Because taupe is more of a browny shade than beige it can be tricky to know which colours complement it.
Terracotta is a more earthy-toned orange and works really well with the darker undertones of taupe. Introduce this shade through your choice of artwork and cushions for a subtle pop of colour.
3. Greige

Mix up your neutrals by introducing the colour ‘greige’ into your taupe room scheme. A mix of grey and beige, it is the perfect mid tone to pair with taupe. Mixing these two shades will avoid your neutral scheme from feeling too flat and dull.
4. Brown

Rich chocolate brown tones can instantly make a space feel cosy and luxurious, especially paired with taupe for a three dimensional feel.
Layer up a brown velvet bed with different textures and varying shades of neutrals. Brass hardware works really well with these luscious warm tones.
