Introducing the new quoting and invoicing tool, free for Checkatrade members

Our Checkatrade trades app has had an upgrade! Instead of spending hours a week on creating invoices and quotes for customers, you can create them at the tap of a button. If you're a Checkatrade member, you'll want to give our new and free quoting and invoicing tool a go.

With tradespeople estimated to spend around 2.5 hours every week on quoting and invoicing customers, our tool is designed to help streamline your job processes.

It’s easy to use, and generates both quotes and invoices at the touch of a button.

Our members often tell us that quoting is a pain point in the day-to-day running of their businesses, with the process being time-consuming and done at the end of a long day on site. On the flip side, homeowners sometimes feel like they wait a long time to receive a quote and don’t always obtain a detailed breakdown, which can lead to surprises with costs when the job is complete. With the introduction of the Checkatrade quoting and invoicing tool we want to arm members with the knowledge and ability to quickly price jobs, create detailed quotes and send invoices with just a few clicks, helping them manage their business more efficiently.’’

Jambu Palaniappan, CEO of Checkatrade

As with our other new developments, our new tool is created with tradespeople in mind.

What is the quoting and invoicing tool for?

The quoting and invoicing tool is a flashy new feature in the Checkatrade Trades app. It will allow all our members to quickly create and generate invoices and quotes for their customers. You can do it onsite, on the move, or at home in the evenings.

And best of all, it’s completely free for our members!

The tool was created for all Checkatrade members. Although, it best suits members who provide service, repairs and maintenance jobs.

The quoting and invoicing tool will also make it easier for our members and homeowners to agree on job details before starting work.

For most jobs, it is important to agree in writing a number of things. You want to confirm the scope of the project, how much it will cost, and if it will be a longer job, roughly how long it will take.

Using a quote generated through the tool will help streamline this (sometimes painful) process.

The tool can even be used for all jobs regardless of whether they come from us or not.

How does the tool work?

Imagine meeting one of your customers. You discuss the project, they’re clear on their brief, and you tell them you’ll send them an invoice or quote for the work.

You head back to your van, open the Checkatrade Trades app, tap ‘Quoting and invoicing’, fill in all the details, and email it over to the customer minutes after discussing the project with them.

Beats doing all your invoices and quotes in the evening at home, right?

To create a quote, the tradesperson can use the guided workflow on the app to input all of the relevant details about the job.

You’ll need to include information about:

  • The scope of work
  • Approximate time to complete
  • Material costs
  • Any other miscellaneous items (such as certificates or assessments)

Through the tool, you can also apply discounts and automatically calculate the tax you’ll need to pay.

Your quotes can be personalised using your business profile, including adding your logo. They can also be personalised for homeowners with any short notes you may want to include.

Once the quote gets approved, and the work is done, you can easily convert it into an invoice with payment due dates. After being generated, you can then send it to the homeowner using their preferred method of either email or text.

The invoice includes a breakdown of the costs, which can be adjusted within the app or change orders.

All quotes and invoices will then be stored in the app to help you find them quickly and easily.

Once they’re saved, you can download quotes and invoices with ease, to help you with your accounting and bookkeeping.
