Advertising in the Checkatrade directory

As any tradesperson knows, there are a variety of ways to advertise your business and find new customers.

However, as good as modern marketing is, it’s the tried and tested methods that often prove most effective.

And one of the best ways for your business to get noticed is in a physical trade directory. Just like the one Checkatrade sends out regularly throughout the year!

The instantly recognisable Checkatrade directory has been delivered to people’s homes up and down the nation for over 25 years. It’s a reliable source of approved tradespeople for homeowners, and a quick way to reach new customers in your local area.

What is the Checkatrade directory?

As the name suggests, the Checkatrade directory is a physical directory delivered directly to people’s homes.

We make sure to publish an updated copy multiple times throughout the year. It works to put homeowners in touch with tradespeople, providing a two-fold benefit:

  • Homeowners get a fresh look at the tradespeople in their area
  • Tradespeople have the opportunity to put their business in front of new customers

For many homeowners, the Checkatrade directory becomes a dependable guide to trusted tradespeople in their local area.

How does the Checkatrade directory work?

The Checkatrade directory is a form of print marketing, which is a superb way of advertising in your local area.

But in order to appear in it, you’ll first need to sign up to Checkatrade and then select a directory tier.

These tiers are as follows:

  • Standard – This includes your business name, services, and contact details (bear in mind there are a limited number of standard listings per category)
  • Premium – This larger slot includes your business name, services, and contact details in a prime directory spot (premium spaces are extremely limited)
  • Half-page ad – These occupy half the space on a page, where most directories will only offer two available spaces.
  • Back-page ad – This is an exclusive half-page ad on the back page (only one member can be featured in this way per directory)

Directory feature FAQS

Is a feature in the directory good value for money?

The average business in our directory receives around 20% of their calls from their ads. We know this because every directory entry has a unique telephone number. This means we can track how many homeowners have called in response to the directory ad.

Call tracking also has many other features that we share with our featured tradespeople. This provides full transparency on a variety of data, such as your answer rate.

How much does it cost to feature in the directory?

The cost of featuring in the Checkatrade directory depends on the tier level you choose, what type of trade you’re in, and the location in which you wish to feature. Speak with our team to learn more about specific tier pricing.

Do I have to be featured in every directory?

The Checkatrade directory is distributed bi-monthly, but your business doesn’t need to be featured in every publication. You decide on the commitment you wish to make.
