What is the National Federation of Roofing Contractors?

The NFRC is the UK’s largest trade association for roofers. Being registered with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors will help your business build trust with homeowners.

What is the National Federation of Roofing Contractors?

It is an act of trust when homeowners take on your trade business to work on their house. Especially when it comes to the safety and shelter provided by a roof. Building this trust is why membership with Checkatrade and other trade associations such as NFRC is so vital.

Poor installation work affects the reputation of all tradespeople. For some reason, the roofing industry does seem to be more susceptible to rogue trades. Being part of an association such as the National Federation of Roofing Contractors can show to people they can rely on your work.

When roofing work is carried out incorrectly, it puts people’s property and even lives at risk. Loose tiles are dangerous and poorly fitted flashing can lead to serious leakage. Becoming a member of the NFRC is not just ‘nice’ for your business, it is essential.

What is the National Federation of Roofing Contractors?

With a history lasting for over 130 years, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors helps protect homeowners, businesses, the public sector and general public. NFRC actively checks that all of its members offer high standards of workmanship.

How can homeowners find NFRC members?

Here are some of the things homeowners look for when hiring tradespeople to carry out work on their roofs:

  • Business registered with a trade accreditation body, such as the NFRC

  • Checking the credentials of any tradesperson coming into their home

  • Asking to see an ID badge or checking accreditation

  • Get a few quotes from other tradespeople

  • Agree exactly what will be carried out and at what price in contract form

If you have a membership with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, people will be able to find you through a dedicated search tool on their website.

The tool allows people to search for roofing contractors, roofing services, roofing materials and also access the National Heritage Roofing Contractors Register.

People can then make a series of selections and choose their location, which will bring up a list of approved companies. It therefore makes sense to offer a broad range of services through the NFRC member’s register. It also shows that people can trust the quality of your work.

At Checkatrade, we ensure all of our members have the correct accreditations to carry out their field of work. A membership with the NFRC can be an extra step for us to see you as a quality and trusted tradesperson.
