More reviews, more jobs: How Checkatrade helps members get reviews

Great reviews aren’t just nice to have they help get you noticed and booked. That’s why we’ve made it easier than ever to collect them. From automated asks to handy reminders, here’s how Checkatrade helps you get more reviews and what you can do to boost your chances.
How Checkatrade helps
After a job's likely finished, we’ll automatically ask your customer to leave a review via email, text and (if they use it) the Checkatrade app.
If they don’t respond straight away, we’ll follow up with a polite nudge. And every time they open the app, they’ll see a prompt to review any outstanding jobs.
How to boost your reviews
You know your customers best. So we’ve built in easy ways for you to take the lead.
1. Use the ‘Request a Review’ tool in the Trade App
In the app, go to the Reviews section. You’ll see a list of your recent jobs just hit ‘Request Review’ on the one you want feedback on.
We’ll send a request by email and text. If they don’t leave a review after 24 hours, you can send a friendly reminder.
Got a job outside Checkatrade? Add the customer’s name and contact info manually it works exactly the same.
You’ll see every review and request you've sent, all in one place.

2. Add a review widget to your website
Making it easy for your customers to either leave a review or check out your review score, our review widgets can be added to your site. They link directly to your review form or trade profile, and you can choose from a range of colour options to suit your brand and whether you want it to help boost your SEO.

3. Hand out review cards
Sometimes, a physical nudge works best. Our printed review cards are perfect to leave behind after a job. Handy, simple, and hard to ignore.
Grab yours in the ‘Marketing Materials’ section of the app.
4. Link your review page in your email signature
Turn every email into a chance for feedback. In the Trade App, go to ‘Marketing Materials’ and download a Checkatrade logo you like.
Pop it into your email footer and link it to your review form. Done.

AI-Powered review summaries: helping you stand out
Let your reviews speak louder – automatically.
With over 6 million reviews on Checkatrade, we know it’s not easy for customers to read every word. That’s why we introduced AI-powered summaries to help highlight what you’re best known for - based on real, recent reviews from your customers.
If your profile has 50 or more published reviews in the last 24 months, we’ll generate a short summary of the key themes that customers consistently mention. Think of it as a helpful shortcut for homeowners: clear, balanced, and easy to scan. They still see all your individual reviews - but this gives them a faster way to feel confident in their choice.
Why it matters to you:
More bookings: Customers make decisions faster when they can quickly see what you’re great at
Less pressure on perfect reviews: The summary reflects overall trends - not one-off negatives
No extra effort required: It updates automatically as new reviews come in
We’re continuing to improve this feature based on trade and customer feedback, and we’ll always make sure it’s accurate, fair, and grounded in real customer sentiment.
Tip: Keep encouraging happy customers to leave reviews. The more you collect, the better your summary gets - and the stronger your reputation becomes.
But it’s not just for them. It’s for you, too. Your summary highlights what customers keep praising and where you might want to improve. It’s a clear, honest view of your feedback, helping you take control of your reputation and grow your business.
You’ll find a version in the Review insights section of the Trade App, alongside your volume, replies and ratings over time. If you’ve hit the threshold, your AI summary will be there too. Helping homeowners hire with confidence and you stand out for what you do best.
