1. Warm earthy colours

Layers of brown bedroom concept
Just as our wardrobes have been overhauled with espresso, chocolate and toffee tones, so our homes are following suit.
Yes brown has made a comeback. And the deliciously sounding colour palette (almost good enough to eat) is a far cry from the uninspiring basic browns of the 70s.
This time, tonal layers, stretching from deep mahogany and umber to oatmeal and sand, create a classic yet cosy mood for the 2025 home.

If you're still unsure, try Benjamin Moore's Colour of the Year for 2025, Cinnamon Slate. It's a delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown that will ease you into the trend.

2. Biophilic design

Biophilic design has been on our radars for a while now. And it's not going anywhere for 2025.
But what is it exactly?
In a nutshell, biophilic design sets out to connect people and nature more closely within a home or commercial space. It's about bringing the outside in and creating a calm and relaxing environment to improve your wellbeing.
Key to the design ethos are things like natural lighting, good ventilation and natural landscape elements such as plants, rocks and water features.
Check out some of the benefits of plants and greenery:
Injecting colour and life to your space
Helping to purify the air
Increase oxygen levels
Provide a hobby that's fun and stress-relieving

3. Statement stones

Many of us have fallen hard for the beauty of natural stones such as marble, travertine and limestone.
But in 2025, stones are making a statement like never before.
Think big dramatic swirls and streaks in rich hues or slick, black and white patterns that pack a punch.
So brace yourself for power-packed stones in the kitchen and bathroom, which need nothing more than plain white basins, baths and neutral cabinets.
Move over subtle floors, walls and splashbacks, statement stones have arrived.
We recommend finding a good tiler in your area who will be able to do a top-notch job first time.
4. Curved design elements

Scallops, waves, arches and curves are taking over the home - and we couldn't be happier.
Curved design elements are an easy-on-the-eye trend that steps away from strict lines and harsh edges to create a new cosy minimalism we adore.
Choose plump sofas with a curved silhouette, arched alcoves, wavy lamps and scalloped rugs. And don't be afraid to pair two or three in the same room for the ultimate curve appeal.
The result: soft, restful and elegant spaces that are a joy to live in.
5. Embrace heritage prints

We’ve adored vintage hues and folklore prints for a couple of years.
So, in 2025 prepare to go all out with a heritage motif across walls, bedding and accessories - even nostalgic patterned carpets in retro florals, stripes and spots.
In fact, many fabric and wallpaper houses are delving into their archives to make a statement in our 2025 homes. But reinventing the bold designs in pop-art pink and indigo or chic hues like chartreuse, putty and walnut.
Looking back might just be the way forward.

6. Unexpected ways with wallpaper

While we're on the subject of wallpaper, it's time to look at this decorating favourite with fresh eyes.
Because designers are using wallpaper in unexpected places to make a seriously cool statement.
Try big blowsy floral wallpaper on the ceiling, woodland prints in the kitchen or bold, buzzy stripes in the interior of a cupboard.
The surprise of finding wallpaper in an unusual spot is set to elevate every interior in 2025.

7. Bold jolts of colour

While neutrals will never go out of fashion, 2025 is all about a confident use of colour.
Because there's nothing like a bold happy hue to boost positivity at home for work, rest and play.
Enter Dulux and its Colour of the Year 2025, True Joy. This energetic shade of yellow has warm, golden undertones to fill your four walls with sunshine, optimism and a feel-good factor.
Time to give your home the glow up it deserves with playful jolts of colour.

8. Mixed metals

There's a freedom about the 2025 home that means everything doesn't need to match.
And while we're used to pairing a blue velvet sofa with flower print accent chair, we might not be so familiar with mixing metals.
But a subtle blend of brass with gold, or chrome with nickel, is a trend to have on your radar - especially in the bathroom.
Be careful not to overdo this one as copper taps alongside a chrome shower might look a little too random.
Instead, an understated metallic mix will inject a lived-in mood that is chic and not too matchy-matchy.

9. The eco home

More of a lifestyle switch than a passing trend, the eco-friendly home is set to stay.
So if you haven't already done so, 2025 is the year to upgrade to a more sustainable abode.
From simple swaps like LED light bulbs to more ambitious projects like installing solar panels, there are so many options for a greener home.

10 Smart homes

Our homes are becoming smarter, fact.
And this is set to continue into 2025 with smart light bulbs, smart speakers, smart thermostats and smart locks.
The result is a more efficient home, that's safe, user-friendly and energy-efficient.
It's definitely time to smarten up your act.
